We are looking for a project sourcing analyst with built-up nature-based project experience. You will work closely with the rest of the Project & Policy team members. You will be responsible for sourcing, screening and managing carbon projects in close collaboration to ensure the effective advancement of high-impact and high-integrity nature-based solutions (NbS).
You bring a strong work ethic, a willingness to hustle, and a motivation to develop your expertise in ecosystem regeneration and carbon markets fast.
Your mission at Callirius will be to…
- Develop and maintain an extensive overview of the high-impact carbon project developer network with a focus on players able to deliver projects across nature-based solutions, such as forestry, wetlands, and soil & agriculture
- Develop your knowledge of carbon project methodologies and standards, climate initiatives, project certification and project monitoring
- Review materials provided by the project developers and compile project evaluation forms for performing the quality, impact and risk assessment of those projects, supported through automation and data tools
- Assist procurement and consulting/advisory services to customers including, but not limited to RFP development, market assessments, contract negotiation, contract management, education sessions and climate impact communications
- Support the team with high-quality reports and processing inquiries about projects and regulatory frameworks
- Develop thought leadership and science content to help advance education of the broader audience on climate mitigation and ultimately enable more climate action
- Attend relevant meetings, calls and conferences as appropriate, expanding the existing network of projects and partners of Callirius
- Engage in proactive networking with relevant organisations including potential project owners, technology providers, industry associations, multi-laterals, government agencies and others
- Support and develop market analyses and derive actions from academic discussions on the voluntary carbon market and different project types and methodologies
- Attract and support a diverse set of projects globally
- Critically question, analyze and improve existing processes. We constantly aim to improve our existing setup with maximum efficiency
Essentially, you bring…
- Passion and heart-centered professionalism with a desire to build a better future for the generations to come
- A minimum of 3 years of work experience in carbon projects with a focus on nature-based solutions carbon projects-project design, planning and implementation, preferably with on-ground work experience in project sourcing, stakeholder management, sustainable forest and land management etc.
- Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Forestry, Wood Technology, Environmental Sciences) or a broader field with evidence of eager interest in environmental or sustainability issues throughout your academic experience
- A thorough understanding of Voluntary Carbon Market standards and methodologies, and quality principles such as ICVCM-CCP, CCQI, Oxford Offsetting Principles, GHG Protocol, etc.
- Proven skills in AFOLU Carbon management, nature-based solution project assessment, sustainable forest management, and general project management
- Proven experience in conducting assessments, selection, monitoring, and reporting of high-quality nature-based carbon projects
- Demonstrated expertise in researching and identifying new opportunities in the field of biodiversity credits, FSC certifications, and ecosystem services
- Experience analyzing nature-based project portfolios, policy risk assessment, carbon growth, and delivery risks for corporate net-zero strategy
- Ability to liaise with project developers and stakeholders to identify high-quality opportunities for Callirius
- Ability to contribute to climate solutions thought leadership initiatives, delivering innovative solutions and establishing strong partnerships with industry leaders
- Expertise in carbon accounting and reporting for AFOLU projects, following GHG Protocol (Greenhouse Gas Protocol) standards, including quantification, verification, and reporting of emissions reductions and removals associated with nature-based solutions
- Skills in assessing, designing and implementing the Nature-based Solution (NbS) projects as per IUCN Global Standards for NbS.
- Strong understanding of tropical forest conservation, restoration, and sustainable use practices, including knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and best management practices for tropical forest landscapes
- Experience implementing and managing sustainable forest management practices, including certification processes and compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Proficiency in MS Office tools (i.e., Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
- Enthusiastic in approaching potential new project developers and other partners, generating new business opportunities
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills and work with rigour and attention to detail
- Ability to communicate complex topics geared towards heterogeneous target groups
- Strong skills in quantitative research & data analysis, navigating statistics with ease
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English (German is a plus)
